Perhaps I can answer your question here.
What about….
Are classes suitable for children?
Current class offerings are suited for at least 14 and up. Students under 16 need a parent or guardian participating in the class for safety reasons. There is also a degree of hand strength and fine motor skills that are required that many children will not have developed yet.
I am hoping to develop a more simplified class suitable for children and parents to do together in the near future.
No experience ? No problem!
You don’t need to have any prior experience or be a creative person to enjoy a class. Together we will move step by step through the process of creating a piece of jewellery you can be proud of. I encourage you to have a try even if you feel nervous and I am always available to help you through any tricky steps.
Can i melt my old jewellery to use?
Unfortunately it can take quite a long time to turn old jewellery into useable metal. The amount of time required negates any potential cost saving and would mean you would spend lots of time rolling and less time making beautiful things.
Maybe ….
Are classes limited to 4 people?
Yes, currently classes are limited to 4 people. This gives you the best workshop experience as you have plenty of time to ask questions and not have to wait long for any shared tools. The workshop can accommodate up to 6 people, so if you have a group of 6 get in contact to discuss the possibility of running a class for your group.
I’m not creative, is this class for me ?
You don’t need to be a creative person to come and enjoy a class at Flux and Facet. All classes are designed to be enjoyed by everyone no matter your skill level or creativity. All projects are broken down into simple and easy-to-follow steps with samples available and options to suit a variety of tastes and styles.
Can i make my piece in gold?
Yes, but you will need a quote first. Gold is at historical high prices and the price fluctuates on a daily basis. As of July 2024, one gram of 18ct gold is over $120. How much gold is required depends on the type of gold and the piece that is being made. The appropriate alloy of gold solder is also needed and will incur an extra cost.
