Flux & Facet is the result of a combination of two life passions: Jewellery & Gemstones

It’s hard not to resist the allure of endless white sandy beaches, vineyards and long lunches found  down this way. But after the wine is gone and the chocolate is hastily devoured its nice to have a more permanent reminder of those lazy South West days.

At Flux and Facet you can create a permanent reminder of your visit to the sandy shores of the South West of Western Australia. In the relaxed studio workshop you can make a piece of your own unique silver jewellery to take home. The compliments will be entirely yours as you will create your piece of jewellery from start to finish, ending with a glass of sparkling wine and local produce to celebrate your newfound skills.

No prior experience is needed. Just bring your smile and sense of adventure. All tools and materials provided including as many cups of tea as you can manage. These laid-back workshops are best enjoyed with friends, so why not bring along a few and share in a unique South West experience.

Jewellery and gemstones have been an important part of my life from a very young age. As a child I was always on the lookout for a shiny pebble, a fossil or a treasure to take home.  I spent hours fossicking through gravel driveways looking for crystals and holidays were spent on the coast of Devon, England hunting for fossils.

Endless scrapbooks were filled with ornate jewel encrusted rings and necklaces cut from glossy brochures instead of picture of toys. As I grew older beads, clay, fimo and buttons became my focus and many beaded jewels were sold to my classmates at school.

After completing my Bachelor of Arts, Jewellery Design it was time to turn my focus to back to gems. After studying with the GAA I obtained my gemmological diploma to become a qualified Gemmologist and member of the Gemmological Association of Australia.  Later trips to the expansive Bangkok & Hong Kong gem fairs have only fuelled my passion for the fascinating world of gems. I love using interesting gems in my work and am always on the lookout for something special.

I am still on the hunt for treasure. Now that treasure might be an interesting stone, piece of coral, a texture or inspiration from the beautiful south west landscapes. Using organic materials to texture my work give these impermanent, soft forms a durability and new life.

Now after almost 10 years in the workshop of locally renowned jeweller John Miller, I would like to help others to discover the joy of creating something for themselves or a loved one.

There is an immense satisfaction in saying “I made it myself”

Flux & Facet would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Wardandi land on which we run workshops, and pay my respects to their Elders past and present. I extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples here today.
